YOUTH FORMATION

 EYC (Episcopal Youth Community)

is a ministry for all 6th – 12th graders here at St. Peter by-the-Lake. We meet twice a month on Sunday evenings from 5pm – 7pm for  supper,  fellowship, and program time. Members of EYC also serve Christ by serving their neighbors.  EYC members are active in our local CROP Walk against hunger, the Relay for Life against Cancer…as well as participating in programs like the ‘Linus Project’, which creates security blankets for children who have experienced some kind of trauma in their lives.

EYC members also usually go on a weekend retreat once a year where we enjoy a combination of fun, games, and spiritual formation.

Sunday Morning Christian Formation

classes are offered from September – May for children of all ages at 9:30am. This year, we have used the ‘Rotation Model’, where classes and themes change every four weeks. Children learn experientially through drama, storytelling, crafts, video, and even cooking!

The Acolyte Corp

is a ministry made up of mostly youth from 3rd grade – high school. Acolytes assist the clergy in leading worship each Sunday. There are several training sessions each year to help prepare youngsters for this vital ministry in the worship life of St. Peter by-the-Lake.

Vacation Bible School

or VBS, is done every June in cooperation with Unity Presbyterian Church. It’s a true ecumenical ministry. Over one hundred children participate each year in a program that provides both fun and learning of the Christian story. Age ranges from Nursery – Middle School.

Youth Confirmation Classes

are offered at various times of the year, depending on parish need and the date of the bishop’s visit to St. Peter by-the-Lake. One must be a 7th grader or older to participate in the Confirmation classes that are usually led by the rector with assistance from other clergy and lay leaders.
