Requests for Prayer -- To make a prayer request for a loved one or a community or a national concern to be offered up on Sunday mornings, record the name on the prayer list beside the Guest Register in the Narthex. If the concern is ongoing and you would like the name also listed in the NET and prayed for on Sunday mornings on a rotating basis over a long period, circle the name on the list Confidential prayer can be requested using the blue DOK prayer cards in the pews. Prayer requests received on the DOK cards are kept confidential and are not spoken on Sunday mornings, but are prayed for by all DOK members daily for one month or longer, if requested on the card.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
Children's Chapel is an age appropriate experiential liturgy designed for children age 3 to 1st grade. Children's Chapel meets during the 10:30 AM. service-The children leave the sanctuary at the sequence hymn and return at the Lord's Prayer to receive Communion with their families. Children's Chapel is staffed by caring parent volunteers.
Women's Bible Study on Thursday mornings at 10 AM. We are currently studying Corinthians. All women in the parish are welcome to attend. It is great fellowship and faith exchange. Just bring yourself and your favorite Bible.
Adult Christian Formation classes for Fall - Class 1: Church History with Deacon Judy in Fotinos Hall. Class 2: The Homebuilder's groups with Andy Parton. Father Ron and Mother Danae will also facilitate some later in the year. Homebuilders is designed for 20-40s, married or single, with or without kids. Location is Rector's study. Class 3: Adult Inquirer's Class - Those Episcopals. An 11 week introduction to the Episcopal Church for adults new to the church or thinking about joining. Facilitator is Father Ron in Furr Hall. All class times are at 9:30 on Sunday mornings.

Please pick up a 'blue collection box' from Fotinos Hall and each day, drop in some coins each time you are thankful or feel blessed Please bring yow boxes back to church on Sunday Nov. 16th. WANTED! MEN! WOMEN! TEENS! Jesus calls us to go out into the community and bring in the deaf, the lame, the blind. Do you have a heart for this special group of people - those who have the same desire for the love and fellowship of God's people but need a little extra help? We have the opportunity to begin a vital new Disability Ministry. Training, will be provided. Interested? Please give Name, Address & Phone to Jeane Howland or put in her mailbox.
Games from God! Thank you so much for your great response! We filled who whole treasure chests. One will be taken to Thompson Child and Family Focus and one to Amy's House. The Junior DOK - Hope Chapter will be continuing to collect new or gently used games for these children in crisis. Amy games are welcome - Board, card and outdoor games. They must be appropriate for children. These is a collection box labeled "Games from God" in Fotinos Hall. Thank you!
Ecumenical Outreach Committee - We will be making "Cheer" baskets for the Lakewood residents. We need donations of small personal items to be able to assemble them. We very much need and appreciate all donations! If you have any questions, please see Charlotte Garbarino or Barbara Johnson.
THE CORNER TABLE: SPBTL sponsors a quarterly noon meal for as many as I75 people in need. Monday, November 17 is our next date. What we need to continue this successful outreach are 11 money for the meal provisions and 2) at least 13 volunteers for that morning. Please make your donations payable to St. Peter by-the-Lake and be sure to note for The Corner Table meal. There is a signup board across the hall from the parish administrator's office for volunteers -- cooks plan to he there at 9am and servers by 10am. The Altar Flower Calendar is posted in the narthex. Everyone is welcome to sign up to give flowers for thanksgivings, celebrations, or memorials. During Lent and Advent only greenery is used on the altar and we need sign-ups for those dates also. More detailed information will be in the Nov. Net. Please print your first and last name. Let's fill our Year 2009 Calendar quickly.
Coffee Hour Committee. The vestry is seeking volunteers who are interested in serving on a coffee how hospitality committee that would coordinate and/or provide food for coffee how on a rotating schedule. The schedule will be dictated by the number of participants. If you are interested in this ministry, please signup on sheet in the narthex.
Seeking Baby Whisperers! Our nursery is seeking volunteers who can give an hour and a half of their lime about every two to two and a half months during our 10:30 worship service, Don't feel you have to tame the toddlers! It is an enjoyable time holding the babies, playing and reading with them If this 1s something you may enjoy doing please fill out the form in the narthex and put it in Betsy Clements box or call me at 704.650.3881.
FOOD LION LIONSHOP -- St Peter-by-the Lake has enrolled in the program. Each time you shop at Food Lion and use your MVP card, a portion of your total grocery purchase will be donated to the church You can link your MVP card to the church in any of the following ways: 1) Visiting the Food Lion website www.foodlion.com, 2) Calling the Food Lion Customer Service number at (704) 633-8250 Ext. 3810 or 3)returning the form in your church mailbox to Stephanie Emmerson. SAVE THE DATE - Ross Bulla and Shad Spencer will host their annual holiday open house, Saturday, Dec. 13th at 7pm. Parishioners and guests are invited.
Junior Daughters of the King - Meetings will he held every other Sunday at 4pm one hour before EYC. Any girls ages, 7-21, are welcome at the meetings.
Wayne's Second Friday Senior Feast - Attention all Seniors. The November Feast will be held at Cap'n Pete's on November 14th at 10AM. Please arrive no later than 945 AM, as the program will start promptly at 10:OO. Cost is $6 per person and includes the tip. Reservations and payment must be made to Dot Payne (704-483-3461) by Sunday November 9th. Reservations will not be accepted after that date. The program will he Advanced Family Eye Care with Drs. Michael & Amanda Barker Assell.
Attention A "Kick off Voyage" for the Greatest Generation will be held on November 9, 2008 from 3:00 to 500 p.m. at the church. It will be a late afternoon lunch/early dinner. VESTRY - December 7th Anyone interested in serving on the Vestry should contact Conrad Wease or Patty Duggan. Beginning this year, vestry elections will be done by ballot, if there are at least two or more nominees more than the number of openings. This is the preferred method of election recommended by the Diocese of Western North Carolina. To serve on the Vestry one must be an adult (age 16 or over) confirmed member of St. Peter by-the-Lake and the Episcopal Church and be an active and pledging member of the parish.
The Men of St. Peter News: The second Saturday breakfast is at Stacy's beginning at 8:30 AM. A great tradition and great time to meet and spend with the men from St. Peter. The Brady Bunch - Please join us on the 4th Saturday each month for the Brady Bunch fellowship meeting at 8:30 at the church. This gathering offers time together for insightful sharing and study of the book, The Man in the Mirror: Solving the 24 Problems Men Face by Patrick Morley. Please join us for this opportunity to grow our faith and be a part of St. Peter. GIRL SCOUT FUNDRAISER AT ST. PETER'S - Spaghetti dinner (donations welcome, $5 plate suggested). Friday, November 7, serving time: 5:00-700 pm Money raised helps send girls to camp and cover other expenses with which they may need assistance.
