ADULT FORMATION
Formation and teaching for adult ministry is taken very seriously here at St. Peter by-the-Lake. There are a number of opportunities for Christian Formation during the year, below are some examples:
Sunday Morning Adult Formation
at 9:30am. Some recent offerings have included: Praying the Movies…Christian Dream Interpretation…Bible Studies on Exodus & The Book of James. Groups meet at 9:30am on Sunday Mornings.**
The Rector’s Bible Study.
10am on Thursday mornings from September – May. We usually study the lessons for the upcoming Sunday morning, but in the fall of 2010 we will be studying the Book of Revelation.**
Education for Ministry (EFM)
on Wednesday nights at 7pm from September – May. This is much more than a bible study. It is an in-depth curriculum from the School of Theology at the University of the South (Sewanee). Students study the Old Testament, the New Testament, Church History and Theology. The program is 4 years in length. There is cost involved. The Men’s Group ‘Brady Bunch’ Study Group
…Meets on the 4th Saturday morning of the month at 8:30am. This group either does a book study, or a book of the Bible. Right now we are studying the Gospel of Mark. All men are welcome to join at any time.**
The Daughters of the King (DOK)
This is a national lay order for women in the Episcopal Church. The group is dedicated to prayer and study, and they usually meet on the 2nd Monday night of the month at the Church. All women are welcome to join.**
The annual Lenten Teaching Series
takes place on the Wednesday nights during the Lenten season. The evening begins with dinner at 6pm, followed by a short worship service at 7pm, and the teaching series then goes from 7:30 – 8:15pm. Topics change from year to year.**
